The seats listed under birth to 12kgs will carry children to a minimum of 9kgs and a maximum of 13kgs, and refers to capsules not convertible car seats (0 - 18kgs+). Not all children will fit in these seats to the maximum weight limit. The next step is a seat designed for 0 - 18kgs+. Plunket recommends keeping children rear facing until they are 12 months old or 12kgs minimum. Above 12kgs refer your restraint's instruction manual for rear facing limits. Car seats for children weighing 14 - 26kgs are typically called booster seats and are used with an adult seat belt. We do not recommend the use of a half booster for children at the lower end of this weight scale, unless they have fully outgrown their full booster.
Seats made of polystyrene in this section can be used with a child harness. Plastic molded seats can only use the child harness if the instructions state this.
