Car seat clinic

80% of car seats are incorrectly installed.
That means 4 out of 5 car seats are not being used correctly.
Is your child's seat one?
We can help! (We'd love to!)

What do you do?
Our qualified child restraint technician will check your seat. This includes checking the manufacture date, weight limits, expiration date and physical appearance of the seat. They will also check your current set up (if currently installed) and then show you how to install the seat, correcting any errors along the way. You will be given the opportunity to install the seat yourself, and ask any questions you have regarding your car seat and the installation of the seat.

Are you qualified?
Yes our technician has many years of certification dating back to 2006. Current certification is valid until September 2013.

Our technician is competent in both units:

26556: Demonstrate knowledge required to sell or rent child restraints
26557: Select child restraints for rent or sale, and install them

Why should we use NZ Child Restraints?
Our technician is registered with NZ Transport Authority with certification until September 2013. We offer a non-biased opinion on a range of seats out there and we will not judge parents on the choice of seat they have. We understand that one size does not fit all and are happy to work with parents and caregivers of all ethnicities, age, gender etc.
NZ Child Restraints does not work for an organisation and therefore is not under pressure to sell particular brands of seats, or related products. Our technician has a vast knowledge of a range of car seats dating back to the mid 1990's, as well as seats sold in other countries, and varying installation methods.

We have a small range of car seat accessories available for purchase at your check so there is no need to worry if you have not got it at the time of your check.

What area do you cover?
We cover mostly the North Shore though on occasion we do cover other parts of Auckland. If you are not in our area we are happy to meet you at a central location.* This service is independent and operates via request.

What does it cost?
While we would love to offer free checks it is no longer viable for us to do so.
A check typically lasts between 30-45minutes and costs $35 for an initial check, any follow up checks cost $25.

Accessories can also be purchased on the day of your check. This includes locking clips and tether bolts if required.

All clients receive a goodie bag at their check. Contents vary depending on what is offered at the time, if you, or your company wish to offer flyers, promotional information, or goods to pass on to our clients please contact us to discuss further.

If you would like to request a check please email us on admin@childrestraints.co.nz or contact us.

An evaluation form will be emailed to you following a car seat check, this information is confidential, and is used to improve our service to you and others in the future. Please address any concerns with us as soon as possible.
